StarNet CLI tools
Download standalone StarNet CLI packages here. PixInsight users
should use the StarNet repository
so PixInsight can keep the module updated.
Choose between two download formats:
- Installer: sets up the tool and its support files
in the standard installation location.
- ZIP: a portable archive for manual setup. Extract all
files and keep the supplied folder layout. Extracting a ZIP does not
run an installer or automatically add the tool to PATH.
If you are unsure which one you need, choose the installer
for your operating system. Both formats provide the same command-line
tool; neither adds a graphical interface. See the
FAQ for more about installation and running
the tool from a terminal.
Latest version
Current StarNet2 CLI packages for star removal outside PixInsight,
including command-line processing, automation, and integration with
other image processing software. This release includes installer files.

StarNet2 2.6.2 improves linear FITS handling, output fidelity,
and processing diagnostics. StarNet2 also improves intermediate 2× processing
and difference and unscreen star layers. See the

Windows

Current Windows StarNet2 CLI package.
Windows CLI packages include ONNX/ORT with DirectML support. They use the DirectML library supplied by Windows, normally located at C:\Windows\System32\DirectML.dll; we do not bundle that DLL. GPU acceleration also requires a compatible DirectX 12 GPU and driver. If DirectML initialization fails, the tool falls back to CPU. Keep Windows and your GPU driver updated; see the Windows GPU instructions for requirements and troubleshooting.
System requirements
- Requires 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Windows ONNX/ORT packages support DirectML acceleration with CPU fallback when DirectML is unavailable.
- ONNX/ORT with DirectML support is included; DirectML.dll is supplied by Windows, not bundled. GPU acceleration requires a compatible DirectX 12 GPU and driver.

- Requires a compatible x86_64 glibc-based Linux distribution.
- Use the self-contained .sh installer on Debian-compatible systems; use the portable archive on other compatible distributions.
- Built with GCC/libstdc++ 13 on Ubuntu 24.04; older distributions may require a compatible runtime baseline.
